Michael Keane: 'Permanent Burnley move was the right decision'

Michael Keane claims that he was right to leave Manchester United to join Burnley on a permanent basis in January.

Burnley defender Michael Keane has insisted that he made the right decision to leave Manchester United on a permanent transfer in January.

Keane impressed in the first half of the season on loan at the Clarets, and he claims that competition for places at United made it an easy choice to secure a move to Turf Moor.

The England Under-21 international told reporters: "If I'd gone back to United when everyone was fit I'd have been where I was at the start of season and once you start playing regularly in the Premier League that's all you want to do and ever wanted to do.

"If I'd gone back I'd have been sat on the bench and with the money United have got they'll probably sign one or two centre halves in summer, so I'd have been further down the pecking order."

Keane returns to Old Trafford with Burnley on Wednesday night.
