Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata targets Premier League success next season with Romelu Lukaku - on the brink of joining from Everton - leading the line.

Juan Mata has said that he hopes to see former teammate Romelu Lukaku fire Manchester United to the Premier League title next season.

The Red Devils have had an offer of £75m accepted by Everton for the prolific striker and expect to finalise a deal "in due course", likely before the end of the weekend.

Mata, who spent time with Lukaku at former club Chelsea, believes that the Belgium international can potentially lift United to the English top-flight summit should he complete his transfer.

"We played together in London and [he has] had a lot of good seasons at Everton, and this year he has scored a lot of goals," he told Marca. "If he comes in the end, hopefully he will help us score many goals and try to win the Premier League."

Lukaku scored 26 times in 39 games in all competitions for Everton last season, taking his overall tally to 168 senior goals.
