Jadon Sancho reportedly returns to Manchester United training after taking part in an individual programme to improve his physical and mental readiness.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has reportedly returned to training following a spell away from the first-team squad.

Sancho joined United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, but after enjoying success in Germany, he has failed to find his best form for the Red Devils.

In 38 competitive appearances during the 2021-22 campaign, Sancho only managed to produce five goals and three assists.

The Englishman scored three goals and provided one assist across 14 appearances in the opening months of the current campaign, before Erik ten Hag and Sancho agreed that it was best for the player to undergo a personal training plan.

Sancho, who has not featured for the first team since October 22, spent time in the Netherlands to take part in an individual training programme designed to improve his physical and mental readiness.

During his time in the Netherlands, Sancho worked with coaches recommended by the United boss at the amateur club OJC Rosmalen.

Although he reportedly returned to the Carrington training complex last week, he continued to work away from his teammates.

However, according to The Athletic, the 22-year-old stepped up his comeback by returning to first-team training on Tuesday.

Sancho's presence will only boost a side that has been in impressive form in recent weeks, winning all seven competitive matches since the resumption of club football following the World Cup break.

Despite taking part in first-team training, Sancho is unlikely to feature in Wednesday's Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace.

Ten Hag will also be unable to call upon Axel Tuanzebe and Donny van de Beek, who are sidelined through injury.

With Diogo Dalot expected to be ruled out for a second straight game, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to retain his place at right-back.

There could also be a debut for Wout Weghorst, who recently joined the club on loan from Burnley until the end of the season.

United currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League table, but they will move into second position with a win over Palace.
