Pep Guardiola 'wants to be Manchester United manager'

A new book looking into the life of Pep Guardiola claims that the boss has made it clear that he would like to one day manage at Manchester United.

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola would like to manage Manchester United one day, according to a new book.

Marti Perarnau, the author of Pep Confidential: The Inside Story of Pep Guardiola's First Season at Bayern Munich, states that the Spaniard made it clear that he would like to take over at Old Trafford in the future.

Guardiola was tipped by many to replace Sir Alex Ferguson following his departure in 2013, although the 43-year-old instead opted to take on a new challenge in the Bundesliga.

"It was May 4 (2011), and the pair sat together in the stands of Old Trafford watching Sir Alex Ferguson's team beat Schalke 4-1. Pep turned to his friend and said, 'I like this atmosphere. I could see myself coaching here one day,'" Perarnau writes.

Guardiola is contracted to German giants Bayern until 2016.
