Mason Greenwood reportedly meets with Manchester United bosses, with the club continuing their internal investigation.

Mason Greenwood has reportedly met with Manchester United bosses, with the 20-time English champions continuing their internal investigation.

The England international was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of rape and assault following accusations from a woman, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Greenwood was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with a trial date set for November 2023.

However, it was recently announced that all criminal charges against the 21-year-old had been dropped, and he is now free to resume his football career.

"Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped," read a statement from Man United in response to the developments.

"The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete."

Greenwood is believed to have recently spoken to Man United head coach Erik ten Hag, while it is understood that he has met with some of his teammates since all charges against him were dropped.

The forward is not expected to play for the Red Devils this season, with the club considering all options on the table, including bringing him back into the first team, selling him or terminating his contract.

There is believed to be a split among the staff at Old Trafford when it comes to the £70,000-a-week forward, who has not featured for the club since last January.

According to The Sun, Greenwood has now held his first face-to-face meeting with senior figures at Old Trafford, with the English giants conducting a thorough investigation.

"Mason and his team met with the club to start the process of trying to get to the bottom of exactly what may or may not have happened," the newspaper quotes a source as saying.

"It is an extremely sensitive situation and the club think it is only fair that Mason is given the opportunity to fully explain himself.

"The club are keen to hear his version of events. Only when they have the full picture, can they start to move things forward."

Greenwood has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 appearances for Man United in all competitions since debuting in 2018.

The forward, who was born in West Yorkshire, has been with the Red Devils since the age of six.
