Fred was mocked by his Manchester United teammates for the incident which saw him miss the first leg of the club's summer tour, according to a report.

Brazilian midfielder Fred was reportedly mocked by his Manchester United teammates over the summer for the set of circumstances which saw him miss the first leg of the club's pre-season tour.

The 26-year-old was allowed to miss the majority of United's pre-season preparations after getting married in a private ceremony on July 14.

According to The Times, the midfielder assumed that his wedding would fall within his time off as he was expecting to be included in the Brazil squad for the Copa America, which ended on July 7.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder was ultimately left out of Tite's squad, however, after struggling to impress at club level during the 2018-19 campaign.

The report claims that the situation made the South American 'the butt of jokes from his teammates' during the summer.

Fred has appeared on seven occasions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's strugglers this season and could start against table-topping Liverpool on Sunday afternoon with Paul Pogba still on the sidelines.
