David Gill reflects on the 16 years that he spent working at Premier League champions Manchester United.

Departing chief executive David Gill has revealed that he "enjoyed" his time working for Manchester United.

The 55-year-old joined the club as a finance director in 1997 and was handed the role as CEO 10 years ago.

However, he will step down next month to pursue further roles with the Football Association and UEFA.

"I've had a fantastic 16 years in total, 10 as chief executive, and working with Alex [Ferguson] and all the staff at Manchester United has been a real privilege," he told the club's official website.

"I can't look back, I can only look forward but I've enjoyed it immensely and to go out with another Premier League title is a wonderful experience for me. I look forward to watching the team in years to come, winning more trophies, but in a slightly different guise."

Gill is to be replaced by Ed Woodward.
