David de Gea called up to Spain squad

Goalkeeper David de Gea is called up to Vincente del Bosque's Spain side despite not featuring for Manchester United this season.

David de Gea has been called up to the Spain squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers next month, despite not playing for Manchester United so far this season amid rumours that the goalkeeper could leave the club.

The Spaniard has not played since halfway through pre-season after rumours of Real Madrid's interest in the 24-year-old intensified, with Sergio Romero instead starting between the sticks for United this season.

Teammate Juan Mata has also been called into Vicente del Bosque's squad to face Macedonia and Slovakia, along with Chelsea players Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Diego Costa.

Spain's squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas (Porto), David de Gea (Manchester United), Sergio Rico (Sevilla)

Defenders: Juanfran (Atletico Madrid), Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos (both Real Madrid), Gerard Pique, Marc Bartra (both Barcelona), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Jordi Alba (Barcelon), Bernat (Bayern Munich)

Midfielders: Koke (Atletico Madrid), Sergio Busquets (Barcelona), Juan Mata (Manchester United), David Silva (Manchester City), Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea), Santi Cazorla (Arsenal), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Isco (Real Madrid)

Forwards: Vitolo (Sevilla), Pedro (Chelsea), Paco Alcacer (Valencia), Diego Costa (Chelsea)
