Antonio Conte: 'Jose Mourinho must respect me'

Conte demands respect from Mourinho

Antonio Conte says that his relationship with Jose Mourinho starts and ends with the mutual respect that they will show each other before Sunday's meeting.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has told opposite number Jose Mourinho to 'show some respect' when Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The pair have never truly seen eye to eye and have been involved in a number of touchline spats since the Italian's arrival in English football last year.

Mourinho hit out at Conte for "humiliating" him during the Blues' 4-0 win in West London last term due to his over-the-top celebrations, and they also exchanged words during the reverse fixture at Old Trafford later in the season.

Asked ahead of this weekend's latest showdown whether he intends to shake hands with the man he succeeded at the club, Conte told reporters: "It's not important, the relationship between the coaches. We have to respect the job of the other coach. I don't like to speak about the other situation.

"He is an opponent and I'm an opponent for him. After the game it will be the same. I have respect for his job, he must have respect for mine. Then I stop."

United ended a 12-game winless run against their rivals when prevailing 2-0 in their most recent meeting seven months ago.
