Carlos Queiroz wants Tottenham Hotspur job

Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz admits that he is interested in succeeding Andre Villas-Boas as Tottenham Hotspur's next head coach.

Iran boss Carlos Queiroz has admitted that he is interested in becoming Tottenham Hotspur's next head coach.

Queiroz spent two spells as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant manager at Manchester United between 2002 and 2008.

The 60-year-old is now keen to return to the Premier League by replacing fellow Portuguese Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked by Tottenham on Monday.

Asked whether he was interested in the Spurs job, Queiroz told reporters: "Absolutely. Tottenham is a club I really appreciate a lot and I have great admiration."

Speaking to BBC Sport, he added: "One of my coaching dreams is to get back to English football.

"I was very happy in Manchester. It was the most happy and outstanding football period of my entire career."

Queiroz's managerial career has included spells in charge of Sporting Lisbon, Portugal, Real Madrid, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.
