Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is set to make a late call on whether to hand Manuel Ugarte his debut in Saturday's Premier League encounter with Southampton at St Mary's.
Ugarte joined the Red Devils for a reported £51m from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day, but was not registered in time to feature in a 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool prior to the international break.
The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes for Uruguay on Tuesday despite admitting after the match that he has been feeling slightly under the weather. He has since returned to Carrington for training and Ten Hag has revealed that the midfielder is available to play on Saturday.
However, Rasmus Hojlund (hamstring) and Luke Shaw (calf) both remain sidelined with injuries, while Leny Yoro (foot), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Victor Lindelof (toe) and Mason Mount (muscle) are also in the treatment room.
Bruno Fernandes stated after scoring in Portugal's UEFA Nations League victory over Scotland that a knock that he sustained was only a minor one, so he is expected to start as captain for Man United on Saturday.
Fernandes could be joined in midfield by both Kobbie Mainoo and Ugarte, the latter of whom is in contention to replace Casemiro who endured an error-strewn afternoon against Liverpool and was subsequently hauled off at half time.
A back four of Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot could remain intact, although Ten Hag may ponder swapping De Ligt for Harry Maguire at centre-back.
Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford will continue to battle with each other for starts out wide, while Joshua Zirkzee is set to lead the line once again in the absence of Hojlund.
Manchester United possible starting lineup: Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee
