Ashley Young doubtful for Tottenham Hotspur match

In-form winger Ashley Young emerges as an injury doubt for Manchester United's crucial Premier League clash with top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

Ashley Young has emerged as an injury doubt for Manchester United's crucial Premier League clash with top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The 29-year-old picked up a knock in Monday's FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Arsenal and was seen hobbling away from Old Trafford.

He will be assessed at the club's Carrington training complex this week ahead of a match which could have significant implications on the race for the Champions League.

Young is one of United's form players, having worked his way into Louis van Gaal's first team as either a wing-back or a winger on the left side.

The often-criticised £17m signing from Aston Villa has made 19 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions this season, including starts in their last three games.

United are currently three points clear of Spurs in the table, with 10 games of the season remaining.
