Robert Snodgrass defends Paddy McNair over Jack Wilshere injury

Paddy McNair did not intend to hurt Jack Wilshere, according to Hull City midfielder Robert Snodgrass.

Hull City winger Robert Snodgrass has insisted that Manchester United defender Paddy McNair did not intentionally hurt Jack Wilshere last weekend.

Following a challenge with the young Northern Irishman, Arsenal midfielder Wilshere was forced to undergo surgery on an ankle injury, which will keep him sidelined for three months.

However, when asked for his opinion on the incident, Snodgrass believes that there was no malice in McNair's tackle.

"It looks nasty but these tackles happen in milliseconds. Sometimes players move quickly and the tackle looks worse than it is," the Scot told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I don't think we would be speaking about it if Wilshere wasn't out for so long. McNair didn't go to hurt him."

England international Wilshere has made 22 appearances for club and country this season, from which he has scored one goal.
