Erik ten Hag is reportedly hopeful that Sergio Reguilon, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay can all return to Manchester United's matchday squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly hopeful that Sergio Reguilon, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay can all return to the matchday squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils trio were all unavailable to play in the 3-0 victory over the Eagles in the EFL Cup third round on Tuesday night due to illness.

Reguilon felt under the weather before United's 1-0 Premier League win against Burnley last Saturday, but the left-back requested to play at Turf Moor according to Ten Hag and he eventually featured for 79 minutes.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee was then forced to spend a period away from Man United's Carrington training complex, as the club's protocols advise unwell players to stay away to prevent the spread of illness.

Meanwhile, both Eriksen and McTominay were named in the matchday squad for the win at Burnley, with the latter playing the full 90 minutes and the former watching on as an unused substitute, and the United duo also attended training on Monday of this week.

However, the midfield pair were taken ill shortly before Tuesday's encounter with Crystal Palace and were subsequently left out of Ten Hag's matchday squad.

All three players have emerged as doubts for Saturday's Premier League contest with the Eagles, but Man United appear to have been handed a boost regarding the trio's fitness.

According to the Daily Mail, Ten Hag is hopeful that all three players will be fit and available for selection this weekend, with the four-day gap between the two fixtures on Tuesday and Saturday said to provide the trio with enough time to recover.

Reguilon has made three appearances for Man United since joining the club at the beginning of this month, starting Premier League games against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion either side of a late substitute outing in the Champions League against Bayern Munich.

Eriksen has featured six times in total for the Red Devils across all competitions, including four starts, while McTominay has stared two of his five matches so far this season.

Meanwhile, Man United will assess the fitness of centre-back Lisandro Martinez, who missed the midweek win over Palace with a minor foot injury.

The Red Devils will be without defensive trio Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, though, as they continue to recover from muscle injuries, while Amad Diallo (knee) and Kobbie Mainoo (ankle) are not expected to return until after the next international break in mid-October.

Man United are also having to cope without Antony, who is taking a leave of absence amid allegations of assault made against him, and Jadon Sancho who has been banished from first-team training following his well-documented social media outburst at Ten Hag.

Sitting ninth in the Premier League table with nine points from their opening six games, Man United will be looking to reduce the five-point gap that separates them from the top four when they face a Palace side who sit just one place and one point behind them in 10th.
