Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers reveals that James Maddison is an injury doubt for Saturday's Premier League home meeting with Arsenal.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that James Maddison is a doubt for Saturday's clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal.

With less than 18 months remaining on his contract, Maddison's future at the King Power Stadium has been the centre of widespread speculation.

A recent report claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the race to secure his signature, while the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all showing an interest.

The Foxes are still keen to agree an extension with the England international, who remains a key player in the Leicester side.

Maddison has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 19 appearances across all competitions this season.

The Englishman has started the last four competitive matches for the Foxes, but he is a doubt for Saturday's meeting with Arsenal.

Maddison has struggled with a knee issue since last Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Man United, and Rodgers has revealed that he will need to be monitored ahead of the weekend.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Rodgers said: "We're obviously starting to get a lot of players back but we have to see how James Maddison is.

"He's still nursing a knee issue, so we'll just have to assess that tomorrow after training."

The Leicester boss also indicated that Ryan Bertrand is progressing well in his recovery after spending over a year on the sidelines.

While the left-back has returned to training, he will not be involved against Arsenal as he continues to work on his fitness.

Jonny Evans, meanwhile, has been out of action since November with a thigh injury, and Rodgers is hopeful he can return to training next week.

The Leicester boss added: "We will see where he's at tomorrow. He hasn't been with the group this week. We're hoping he can join at some point next week but that's as detailed as that can be at the moment."

Leicester currently reside in 14th place in the Premier League table - four points above the relegation zone.
