Manchester United team news: Predicted XI vs. Southampton

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton at St Mary's.

Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday evening when they take on Southampton at St Mary's.

The Red Devils are closer to the bottom of the table than they are to leaders Manchester City after 13 games of the campaign, having been held to a goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace last time out.

However, Jose Mourinho will be hoping to harness the momentum from their late winner against Young Boys on Tuesday ahead of their trip to face the struggling Saints, who are winless in nine games.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how United could line up for the match.

Possible MNU XI vs. SOU

Out: Victor Lindelof (groin), Marcos Rojo (knock), Matteo Darmian (knock)
Doubtful: Diogo Dalot (knock)

Mourinho notably left Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku out of his side to face Young Boys in midweek, but ended up having to call upon the duo shortly after the hour mark.

Lukaku went on to register an assist for the winner and he is expected to come back into the team this weekend despite having gone 12 games without a goal for the club now.

Alexis Sanchez was absent from the squad entirely in midweek and seems to be severely out of favour at the moment, so Jesse Lingard should keep hold of his place in the front three.

Tuesday's match-winner Marouane Fellaini is likely to have done enough to retain his starting spot too, but the recalled Antonio Valencia is expected to be replaced by Ashley Young.

Victor Lindelof is sidelined until around Christmas after picking up an injury against Palace and Phil Jones was preferred to Eric Bailly in midweek, while Luke Shaw will return to domestic action after serving a one-game ban last weekend.
