Scott Dann: 'Manchester United deserve FA Cup success'

Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann admits that Manchester United deserved their FA Cup final victory at Wembley.

Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann has admitted that Manchester United deserved to win the FA Cup on Saturday.

Palace took the lead late on at Wembley, but that lasted less than three minutes before Juan Mata levelled things up and Jesse Lingard then scored the winner in extra time.

Dann acknowledged that the team were "gutted" at missing out on a first major trophy in the club's history, but believes that they can build on their cup run next season.

"We're disappointed with the result, gutted. It's a great occasion to be involved in, but when you're on the losing side it doesn't make for a great day," Dann told reporters.

"In the first half we probably didn't play as well as we liked, but we got ourselves in front so to lose from there is disappointing, but Manchester United deserved to lift the trophy.

"We'll be looking to move forward, it's the only way we can go. We can't feel sorry for ourselves, we've done really well to get into this position, we took it to extra time but it wasn't to be. We have to take the positives and move on to next season."

Meanwhile, Palace manager Alan Pardew was unhappy with the performance of referee Mark Clattenburg during the game.
