Stuart Pearce: 'Marcus Rashford has outside chance of making Euro 2016'

Stuart Pearce says that Marcus Rashford has an "outside chance" of making the 23-man England squad for Euro 2016.

Former England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce has claimed that Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford has an "outside chance" of making Roy Hodgson's final squad for Euro 2016.

The 18-year-old was named in the Three Lions' 26-man squad, which will be trimmed down to 23 before the start of next month's tournament in France.

Rashford made his senior debut for United in February, but he has attracted Hodgson's attention after scoring seven goals since then.

"I think he has an outside chance," Pearce said on Sky Sports News. "[Hodgson] has brought him in because he has done so well at the back end of the season.

"He is the one reason why Manchester United have finished so well. Bear in mind he is in the team in front of Wayne Rooney in his favoured position, so that tells you something straight away.

"He's had a wonderful end to the season, given United a big lift and being involved with the seniors."

Rashford is one of five strikers, including Jamie Vardy, Harry Kane, Daniel Sturridge and Rooney, to be named in the provisional squad.
