How Barcelona could line up against Manchester United

Ahead of Barcelona's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester United, Sports Mole at how the Spanish champions could line up.

Barcelona's quest for a sixth Champions League crown takes them to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening as they face Manchester United for a place in the semi-finals.

The Spanish giants beat Lyon 5-1 in the last 16, scoring each of their goals in the second leg following a goalless draw in the opening 90 minutes.

Ernesto Valverde's men will now be aiming for a repeat of the 2009 and 2011 finals when overcoming Man United in both matches.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Barca could line up for the first leg.

Possible BAR XI vs. MNU

Out: Rafinha (knee)
Doubtful: Ousmane Dembele (hamstring)

Rafinha is Barcelona's only confirmed absentee for Tuesday's match, having been ruled out for the season back in December with a knee injury.

Valverde is also waiting to check on the fitness of Dembele, who has not been used since the win against Lyon nearly a month ago.

Assuming the French forward is unavailable, it is unlikely that Valverde will revert from the norm. Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho and fit-again striker Luis Suarez were again used up top against Atletico Madrid at the weekend and should retain their places here.

There is a big selection call to be made in central midfield, though, as Arturo Vidal is back from a suspension that ruled him out of the 2-0 win against Atleti, leaving him battling with Arthur for a starting berth alongside Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets.

At right-back, it is a straight choice between Sergi Roberto - used for 84 minutes on Saturday - and Nelson Semedo.
