Xavi agent plays down Manchester City link

Xavi Hernandez's agent Ivan Corretja moves to quash rumours that he met with Manchester City over a proposed move for the Barcelona legend.

The agent of Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has admitted that he has met with Manchester City - but insisted that it was not about his client.

Speculation is rife that the Premier League champions are keen on signing the 34-year-old, but Ivan Corretja says that reports that he negotiated a transfer with the Citizens are wide of the mark.

"It's true that I was in England for this meeting but it was not to speak about Xavi," agent Corretja is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

The former Spain international is contracted to the Camp Nou club until 2016.

Xavi has clocked over 700 appearances for Barcelona, with whom he has won seven La Liga crowns and three Champions League titles in a 16-year stint with the senior team.
