Barcelona are reportedly preparing a £20m summer bid for Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany as they look to address their defensive frailties.

Barcelona have reportedly identified Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany as their number one transfer target this summer.

A 7-0 aggregate thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final illustrated the Catalan club's weaknesses in defence.

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta's has been a long-term admirer of Kompany, but apparently made an enquiry to Paris Saint-Germain about the availability of Thiago Silva.

After being firmly rebuffed by the newly-crowned French champions, Barca have switched their attention back to the Belgian centre-back, according to The Mirror.

The same report claims that Barca are willing to pay £20m for the 27-year-old.
