Eliaquim Mangala passes Manchester City medical?

Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala passes a medical at Manchester City ahead of his move to the club, a report claims.

Eliaquim Mangala has reportedly passed a medical at Manchester City, despite late interest in the defender from rivals Manchester United.

The Porto centre-back, who has recently returned from World Cup duty with France, will complete his move to the Etihad Stadium in the next 24 hours for a sum of €48m (£38m), according to Goal.com.

The same report claims that United were willing to match the transfer fee for Mangala, but the Frenchman underwent a medical at The Bridgewater Hospital in Moss Side on Saturday afternoon.

Mangala's Porto teammate Fernando joined the Premier League champions last month.
