Manchester City have reportedly dismissed suggestions that they have made a bid for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez.
Despite the arrival of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola is eager to bring in a second new centre-back before the end of the summer transfer window.
City have been linked with an approach for Gimenez, a player who is allegedly valued in the region of £80m by his club.
However, Sky Sports News claims that City have distanced themselves from making a formal offer for the Uruguay international.
The report suggests that the Premier League giants have no intention of paying that kind of price on a single player in the coming weeks.
City have also been credited with an interest in Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.
