Manchester City are reportedly ready to tell Atletico Madrid that they wish to pay £62.5m for midfielder Rodri.
Atletico only signed the 22-year-old from Villarreal last summer, but the player's release clause has resulted in interest from a number of clubs.
Rodri has allegedly informed Atletico that he wishes to move to another team after City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona emerged as potential destinations.
City remain favourites, according to The Mirror, due to the club's willingness to meet the required fee and Rodri's desire to play under Pep Guardiola.
The boss of the Premier League champions regards the Spain international as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, who turned 34 last month.
