Manchester City lead race for Juventus star Paul Pogba?

Manchester City are reportedly favourites to sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba after Barcelona pull out of a deal.

Manchester City have emerged as frontrunners for Paul Pogba's signature after Barcelona reportedly pulled out of a proposed move for the Juventus midfielder.

Pogba, who joined Juve from Manchester United on a free transfer in 2012, has been linked to the majority of Europe's elite, as well as Premier League sides including Chelsea and his former club.

According to The Mirror, Barca had agreed with Juve to sign the France international in the summer in a deal that would rise to around £85m, but the Spanish giants have now told the Serie A club that they do not intend to go ahead with the move as they are more interested in strengthening their defence.

The report adds that Barca's stance has now paved the way for City to pounce, but Real Madrid are also expected to make their interest known at the end of the season.

City will be under the guidance of Pep Guardiola next season.
