Manchester City are reportedly monitoring the progress of Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is also attracting interest from Newcastle United.

Manchester City have reportedly identified Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as a potential transfer target.

The 21-year-old joined Napoli for £7m from Georgian outfit Dinamo Batumi last summer, and he has gone on to establish himself as an integral part of Luciano Spalletti's side.

Kvaratskhelia has started 20 of his 21 competitive appearances for Napoli, scoring seven goals in Serie A and two in the Champions League.

The Georgia international has also provided eight assists in the Italian top-flight this season - only Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic can match that figure.

Kvaratskhelia's impressive dribbling ability, combined with his low centre of gravity, has led to comparisons to Napoli and Argentina icon Diego Maradona.

The Georgian's impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, though, with at least a couple of Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Premier League champions Man City are currently keeping tabs on Kvaratskhelia.

During a Twitter space, Jacobs also revealed that Newcastle United are also showing an interest in the Napoli man.

"Manchester City have looked, Newcastle have looked," Jacobs said. "[It is] really difficult to get anyone away from Napoli, though, because they're flying at the moment, but who knows, the summer might be a different situation."

Kvaratskhelia is under contract until June 2027, and Napoli would undoubtedly demand a significant fee if they were to entertain the idea of selling one of their prized assets.

Alongside his teammates, Kvaratskhelia is aiming to replicate the success achieved by Maradona, who played a leading role in the last Napoli team to win Serie A in the 1989-90 season.

The league leaders have only lost one of their 20 Serie A games this term, and as a result, they are currently 13 points clear of their closest challengers Inter Milan.

Napoli are also in the last 16 of the Champions League, where they will face Eintracht Frankfurt, after they topped a group that featured Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers.

Kvaratskhelia is expected to be involved in Napoli's away game against Spezia on Sunday.
