Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho could return to the Etihad Stadium in the future.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said that Jadon Sancho could return to the Etihad Stadium in the future.

Sancho famously rejected the chance to sign a new contract at City in favour of moving to Borussia Dortmund, who are believed to have paid around £8m to sign the teenager in 2017.

The 18-year-old has been in fine form for his German club this season, managing one goal and six assists in seven Bundesliga appearances and also has a Champions League assist to his name.

Sancho, meanwhile, made his senior England debut during recent the international break.

City reportedly have first refusal on the Englishman should he leave Dortmund, and Guardiola has claimed that the teenager could one day return to Manchester.

"We know what we have done with Jadon, we wanted him, we did absolutely everything, he decided to go to Germany, so all the best. He's doing really well, hopefully he can achieve what he was looking for," Guardiola told reporters.

"It's a good sign for England players going there. It's so important for the future. I don't know, in football you never say no. When he decided to move from here it's because he doesn't want to be here.

"I don't think he's looking to come back here right now. Maybe in the future, new club, new manager, in football you never know."

City originally signed Sancho from Watford when the attacker was just 14.
