Manchester City are reportedly willing to offer England international Phil Foden a record contract to ward off interest from Real Madrid.

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to offer Phil Foden a record contract to ward off interest from Real Madrid.

Foden has already made 270 competitive appearances for the Citizens despite only turning 24 at the end of last month.

The Man City academy product has established himself as one of the stars of the first team, demonstrated by the fact that he was named the club's Player of the Year for his outstanding performances during the 2023-24 season.

Foden scored 19 goals and provided eight assists in 35 top-flight appearances to help Pep Guardiola's side claim a record fourth consecutive Premier League title.

In total, the England international finished the campaign with 27 goals and 12 assists in 53 matches across all competitions.

Man City ready to offer Foden record deal

According to The Sun, Man City are now ready to offer Foden a lucrative contract which would make him the highest-paid British player in history.

The Citizens are in no immediate danger of losing the 24-year-old, with his current deal set to run until the summer of 2027.

However, they are still keen to secure his long-term future amid reported interest from newly-crowned European champions Real Madrid.

Foden earns around £200,000 a week with his current deal, but Man City are willing to raise that amount to around £370,000.

Such a proposal would put him in the same pay bracket as the club's highest earners Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

Foden currently focusing on Euro 2024

There is a belief that Man City's offer would see Foden extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2030.

The Citizens are not anticipating any issues with negotiations, but they are seemingly keen to start work on a new deal ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Man City will allow Foden to focus on Euro 2024 after the attacker was named in Gareth Southgate's final 26-man squad.

Foden, who has earned 34 caps for his country, will be key to England's hopes of making a deep run in this summer's tournament in Germany.

The Man City man is expected to start when England face Serbia in their tournament opener on June 16, before they wrap up the group stage with games against Denmark and Slovenia.
