Kevin De Bruyne has told former Manchester City teammate Vincent Kompany that he will join him at Anderlecht before hanging up his boots.
Kompany, whose City testimonial will take place on Wednesday night, left the Etihad Stadium during the summer to take up a player-manager role with Anderlecht.
De Bruyne has revealed that he 'misses' the central defender, but the 28-year-old has vowed to join his former club and international teammate in Belgium when he leaves the Citizens.
"I hope his career will be just as amazing at Anderlecht as it was at City. I've told him to keep a place in his team for me in a year, or seven, when I'm finished here," The Sun quotes De Bruyne as saying.
"If he does do that for me I will already have my next destination lined up; my next job. I will definitely miss him being around City."
De Bruyne came through the youth system at Belgian side Genk, ultimately making 113 appearances for their first team before joining Chelsea in 2012.
