Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva hints at Benfica return

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva indicates that he would be open to returning to former club Benfica if they wanted him back.

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has indicated that he would be open to returning to former club Benfica if they wanted him back.

The 25-year-old left the Portuguese giants in 2014 for French side Monaco after making just three first-team appearances.

Speaking to Eleven Sports, Silva said: "I have already said it several times: I have this emptiness of having left a little early, so I think I will come back.

"If they want me there, I think I will come back."

Silva's comments were made before it was announced that City are to be banned from European football for the next two seasons for breaching UEFA's Financial Fair Play policy.

However, this ban has thrown doubt on the future of many players at the club, with Silva, who has scored 29 goals in 138 appearances since joining the Citizens in 2017, among those tipped to possibly leave in the summer.
