Manchester City 3-0 Sunderland

Man City move up to second in the Premier League after recording their first clean sheet of the season with a 3-0 win against Sunderland.

Goals from Aleksandar Kolarov, Sergio Aguero and James Milner have given Manchester City a 3-0 win over Sunderland this afternoon.

The hosts took the lead after just four minutes courtesy of Aleksandar Kolarov's free kick from the edge of the box.

This lead was almost doubled with two chances in a matter of seconds as Pablo Zabaleta saw his close-range effort saved by Simon Mignolet before Carlos Tevez dragged the rebound wide.

Micah Richards thought that he had made it 2-0 five minutes into the second half when he poked his effort towards goal, but Danny Rose was on hand to clear the ball off the line.

It was Sergio Aguero who netted City's second just before the hour mark, flicking Kolarov's cross into the roof of the net.

David Silva was the next man to go close for the champions when he dinked the ball over everyone in the penalty area only to see it bounce to safety off the crossbar.

Sunderland tested Joe Hart just a minute later as the England international clawed James McClean's header off the line.

City killed the game off once and for all in the 88th minute when James Milner's free kick deflected off the head of Craig Gardner and past a helpless Mignolet.

The result provides City with their first clean sheet of the season, as well as lifting them to second in the Premier League.
