Yaya Toure says that Manchester City still have a "long way to go" if they are to match the success of Barcelona.

Yaya Toure has said that Manchester City still have a "long way to go" if they are to match the success of clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United.

The midfielder insists that City are on the right track to match European giants like Barcelona and that they have the right mentality to succeed.

"The mentality we have is fantastic," Toure said.

"Everybody is getting that winning mentality. If you want to win things you need that. You must work, concentrate and recover quickly every two days.

"Every game we go out, we have to put pressure on ourselves to be winners. But with the team we have now everybody has that and everyone is improving well."

The 28-year-old, who won the Champions League with the Catalans in 2009, said that City must start winning trophies for comparisons to Barcelona to hold any truth.

"Of course there is a difference, Barcelona have been a big club for a long time. They are the top team in the world," Toure said.

"If City want to be like that we must win some Premier Leagues, maybe Champions Leagues.

"Then there's Madrid, they're another top team. It shows we still have a long way to go. We must continue to improve."

A win for City over Naples next month would secure them a place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
