Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is hit with a four-game ban after getting sent off in Saturday's defeat to Chelsea.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been issued with a four-game ban by the Football Association after getting sent off in the dying minutes of Saturday's defeat to Chelsea.

The Argentina international was given his marching orders seven minutes into injury time following a reckless challenge on David Luiz.

The frustration from City, who ended up losing 3-1 on home turf at the Etihad Stadium, spilled over as Fernandinho was also sent off for shoving and appearing to grab the throat of Cesc Fabregas.

As a result, the midfielder has been issued with a standard three-match ban for violent conduct, while Aguero has been given an additional one-game suspension because of a similar ban from earlier in the season.

City manager Pep Guardiola will be without Aguero for Premier League matches against Leicester City, Watford, Arsenal and for the club's Boxing Day clash against Hull City.

In total, the North-West outfit will have three players suspended for the trip to Leicester this weekend as defender Nicolas Otamendi will be unavailable after he picked up his fifth booking of the season against Chelsea.
