Gary Neville: 'Yaya Toure should not play every game for Manchester City'

Gary Neville says that Manchester City should use Yaya Toure sparingly as he believes that the midfielder does not have the fitness levels to play every game.

Former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville has urged Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini to limit Yaya Toure's time on the pitch because he cannot handle playing every single game.

The 32-year-old has started all eight of the team's games this season, but Neville believes that the former Premier League champions will only get the best out of their midfielder if he is used sparingly.

"He cannot play three games a week, that man," Neville said during Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. "He is a fantastic player, but I would leave him for your most important games.

"There is a problem around Yaya Toure. On his day, he's perhaps the best central midfield player in the Premier League, but the idea that you can get three equal performances out of him in a week now is impossible."

Toure is expected to play in Wednesday night's Champions League Group D match against Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.
