Roberto Mancini agreed a deal to become manager of Monaco before winning the Premier League title with Manchester City, according to reports.

Roberto Mancini reportedly held talks with Monaco a year ago before winning the Premier League title with Manchester City.

The Italian's representatives agreed a deal in principle that would see their client move to Monaco if he were sacked for not winning the title, according to The Mirror.

Monaco were prepared to pay Mancini £32m over three years if he ended his tenure at the Etihad Stadium.

However, City were able to lift the Premier League trophy for the first time and Mancini has since signed a new five-year deal at the club.

City have declined to comment on the reports.
