Vincent Kompany 'dropped from Manchester City team after row with Fernandinho'

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany was allegedly dropped for the Premier League meeting with Leicester City due to a dressing room row.

Manchester City's Vincent Kompany was allegedly dropped for his side's Premier League clash against Leicester City due to a dressing room bust-up with teammate Fernandinho.

The pair were involved in a "blazing row" at half time during the Sky Blues' 2-1 defeat to Liverpool three days earlier, according to The Mirror.

Fernandinho is said to have chastised the club captain for his mistake that led to Liverpool's opening goal, only for the Belgian to react angrily and the pair almost come to blows.

The situation reportedly became more heated when City manager Manuel Pellegrini stepped in and "sided with Fernandinho". Kompany allegedly continued his tirade and "rounded on anyone who challenged him".

Pellegrini has spoken publicly about his decision to omit Kompany for the Leicester match, but made no mention of a dressing room altercation, insisting that the Belgian's absence was to "refresh the team".
