Brian Kidd admits Manchester City failings

Manchester City caretaker manager Brian Kidd admits that the team have not been good enough this season.

Manchester City caretaker manager Brian Kidd has admitted that the team have fallen short of their standards this season.

The Blues started the campaign as Premier League champions, but a 3-2 defeat at home to Norwich City on Sunday saw them finish 11 points behind rivals Manchester United in the table.

"We have fallen short of the standards we set last season, but it hasn't been for a lack of effort," Kidd told BBC Sport.

"You defend as a team and attack as a team, so you have to look collectively, but we haven't reached that consistency."

Kidd took charge of City on Monday after Roberto Mancini was sacked by the club.
