Mark Hughes has said that Stoke City have "real belief and a real determination" ahead of their trip to the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
The Potters claimed a point when they drew with Manchester City at home earlier in the season, but have not won at the Eastlands ground on their last five visits.
The manager told the club's website: "You can't go into these games fearing the worst because if you do that you might as well accept that you are beaten before you even get there.
"You have to go there with real belief and a real determination to make things happen, and get something out of the game. If we can do that, then we have a chance.
"Not many teams have gone there and taken anything out of them game so it isn't going to be easy, but as I said we will go there in good spirits and we are ready to give it a go."
Stoke, who sit 14th in the Premier League table, are unbeaten in their last three games in the top flight.
