Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe have been named on the shortlist for the men's player of the year at the 2023 FIFA Best Awards.
Haaland has been nominated after enjoying a successful first season with Manchester City following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
The Norwegian scored 36 goals in 35 top-flight games to win the Premier League Golden Boot and the European Golden Shoe.
Haaland also racked up 12 goals in 11 European appearances to finish as the Champions League top scorer for the second time in his career.
In addition to Haaland, Man City have four other nominees after winning the Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup last season.

Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and Bernardo Silva have all been nominated for the men's Player of the Year award, while they are also joined by their former Man City teammate Ilkay Gundogan, who left the club for Barcelona in the summer.
Declan Rice is the only other Premier League player to feature on the shortlist, with the midfielder looking to become the first Englishman to win the award.
Outside of the English top flight, Messi is the current holder of the award and is in contention to win it for a third time.
Messi's former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Mbappe has also been nominated and is seeking to become a first-time winner of the accolade.

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, is up to win the best men's coach award after leading Man City to a historic treble last season.
Luciano Spalletti is also on the five-man shortlist for his work in ending Napoli's 33-year wait for the Serie A title.
There have also been five players nominated in the category for the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper award, including Man City's Ederson, who kept seven clean sheets in 11 Champions League games last season.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is another candidate for the prize after he matched the La Liga record for the most clean sheets in a season with 26 shutouts to his name during the 2022-23 campaign.
