Guardiola 'to stay with City even if appeal fails'

Pep Guardiola will not leave his position as Manchester City boss this summer even if the club do not overturn their European ban, according to a report.

Pep Guardiola will reportedly still be Manchester City's head coach next season even if the club are unable to successfully appeal their two-season European suspension.

As it stands, City will be unable to play Champions League football until the 2022-23 campaign, leading to suggestions that their manager could walk away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers and former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino have allegedly emerged as contenders to become the Manchester club's new head coach.

However, according to The Mirror, Guardiola will still be manager of the reigning English champions next season regardless of what happens with the appeal process.

The futures of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero have also been called into question following the shock announcement on Friday night.

City are next in action against West Ham United in the Premier League on Monday night.
