The Football Association decides against charging Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva for his part in a penalty incident against Burnley at the weekend.

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has avoided action from the Football Association for his part in winning a penalty for his side against Burnley.

During the first half of the 3-0 win over the Clarets, Silva was fouled by goalkeeper Nick Pope, although the summer signing appeared to exaggerate his fall inside the area.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche claimed that Silva was fortunate to win a spot kick, while former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher questioned why the Portuguese international had thrown himself to the ground.

However, the FA has decided against handing a retrospective two-match ban to the 23-year-old, who was making just a second start in the Premier League.

Silva will now be available to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Cup, although manager Pep Guardiola has suggested that he will make mass changes for the clash at the Etihad Stadium.
