Joey Barton says that he is not overwhelmed by Roberto Mancini's success at Manchester City.

Former Manchester City star Joey Barton has said that he is not overwhelmed by Roberto Mancini's success at the club.

Since the Italian arrived at the Etihad Stadium, the Manchester outfit have won the FA Cup, entered the Champions League and climbed to the top of the league table. However, Barton, who spent a decade at Eastlands before he was sold to Newcastle United, believes Mancini has not faced a true test.

"He's done well," Barton told reporters. "But I think you could have done that job with that amount of money!

"For me, the test of a manager is not managing Man City but managing a Birmingham or Nottingham Forest – a club that doesn't have a great deal of finance, that doesn't have big boardroom backing and maybe is in a bit of turmoil.

"That's when you find out who the true managers really are."

Mancini's side beat Barton and QPR 3-2 at Loftus Road last weekend.
