Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly in line to make an early comeback from a knee ligament injury when his side host Burnley on October 20.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will reportedly make his comeback from a knee ligament injury during next Saturday's Premier League clash with Burnley.

De Bruyne has been sidelined since the opening stages of the season after sustaining a serious injury which was initially expected to keep him out for up to three months.

However, the Belgium international has made a quick recovery and returned to full first-team training on Monday, having been held back from Sunday's stalemate with Liverpool at Anfield as a precaution.

De Bruyne has not been included in the Belgium squad for their international double-header against Switzerland and Netherlands, though, instead remaining at the club's training ground in order to get back up to full fitness.

ESPN reports that the 27-year-old will now be in line to make his comeback when the champions welcome Burnley to the Etihad Stadium on October 20.

De Bruyne scored 12 goals and registered 21 assists for City across all competitions last season, helping the club to the Premier League and EFL Cup double.
