How Manchester City could line up against Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole looks at how champions Manchester City could line up when they face Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City could temporarily climb to the top of the Premier League table when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's side are two points off leaders Liverpool - who face fellow title hopefuls Chelsea later in the day - and go into the game having scored eight goals without reply in their last two matches.

City were beaten in their last home outing, though, and take on a Brighton side who have impressed against some of the big teams so far this season.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the champions could line up this weekend.

Possible MNC XI vs. BHA

Out: Kevin De Bruyne (knee), Claudio Bravo (Achilles), Eliaquim Mangala (knee), Benjamin Mendy (foot)
Doubtful: None

Guardiola has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal, evidenced by the fact that he was able to leave out David Silva, Gabriel Jesus and John Stones and still watch his side chalk up a 5-0 away win last weekend.

City made 10 changes for the midweek EFL Cup win over Oxford United, and many of those left out for that match are expected to return on Saturday.

Arguably Guardiola's biggest choice is whether to recall David Silva, although Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan were arguably City's two best players against Cardiff City and will hope to have done enough to keep their places.

Indeed, the champions could name an unchanged team from last weekend's win, with Sergio Aguero continuing to lead the line.

Benjamin Mendy is still sidelined with a foot injury so Fabian Delph will continue at left-back, while Stones is expected to feature more often as a defensive midfielder but is still behind Fernandinho in the pecking order for that position.
