Manchester City could still compete in Champions League next season

Manchester City are given hope of competing in the Champions League next term as the Court of Arbitration for Sport is unsure if the case will be resolved before June.

Manchester City may still compete in the Champions League next season, even if their two-year UEFA ban is upheld.

The English champions were punished by European football's governing body last month for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

City have pleaded their innocence and announced last week that they will appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

A statement release by CAS on Thursday said "it is not possible" to determine when the case will be resolved, giving the Citizens hope of competing in next term's Champions League.

City would be admitted to the competition should the appeal remain unresolved by June 1.

If their ban is upheld, they will then be blocked from competing in any European tournaments in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 campaigns.
