Lyon 4-1 Valenciennes

Lisandro Lopez scores a double as Lyon beat Valenciennes to climb back into the Champions League qualifying places.

Lyon moved back into the Champions League qualifying places with a 4-1 win over Valenciennes in Ligue 1 action tonight.

Lisandro López netted a brace to add to Cris's header as Lyon dislodged Rennes, who lost 2-0 at Bordeaux, in fourth position.

Argentine striker Lopez gave the hosts a 35th-minute lead by slotting past Nicolas Penneteau in the visiting goal following great build-up play by Alexandre Lacazette.

Valenciennes replied almost immediately as Renaud Cohade equalised from the penalty spot after Aly Cissokho committed a foul in the box.

Captain Cris restored Lyon's advantage with a header midway through the second period and Lopez wrapped up the points by netting a third minutes later.

There was still time for Lyon to add a fourth as Jimmy Briand completed the scoring moments before the final whistle.
