Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas plays down Lille draw

Jean-Michel Aulas says that Lyon's draw with Lille on Saturday was not a bad result given their injury problems.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas believes that a draw with Lille at the weekend should be considered a good result for his club due to the number of absentees in the squad.

Les Gones were held to a goalless draw at the Stade de Gerland on Saturday in Ligue 1, which means that they have won just once in their last nine matches.

However, Aulas has played down the disappointment of the result due to being without nine first-team players.

"It's always disappointing when we don't win at Gerland, but I think you have to take the circumstances into account," Aulas told reporters. "No team with nine absences could resist the pressure Lille put on us. Eight injuries and one suspension, no less.

"Getting a draw in these conditions should be considered an achievement, and one that, in the past, we wouldn't always have been able to pull off.

"I'm not satisfied, but I think that the players turned in a good performance and showed a lot of courage."
