Liverpool have reportedly emerged as serious rivals to Bayern Munich in the race to sign striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old hinted after his side's 1-0 loss to Bayern in midweek that he is contemplating an end-of-season switch to the Bundesliga champions.
German outlet Abendzeitung claims that Liverpool are also in contention to sign Werner, however, with the player being watched up close by Jurgen Klopp's scouts on several occasions.
Initial discussions are also said to have been held between the Premier League leaders and Leipzig, who may be forced to cash in next summer as the former Stuttgart ace will only have a year remaining on his contract.
Werner has scored 10 goals in 16 Bundesliga appearances this season, adding to the combined 34 scored in the last two campaigns.
Barcelona are also rumoured to be keeping an eye on the Germany international as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez.
