Real Madrid want Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino as Karim Benzema replacement?

Real Madrid reportedly identify Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino as the club's primary candidate to replace Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu next season.

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino as the club's primary candidate to replace Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu next season.

The latter, now aged 32, only has 18 months left on his existing deal at Madrid and is in his 11th season with the La Liga club.

Firmino, on the other hand, has been a scintillating presence at number nine for Liverpool, netting eight goals in all competitions so far this term.

According to Calcio Mercato, Los Blancos have pinpointed Firmino as the perfect man to step into the shoes of Benzema once the Frenchman departs.

Despite Benzema's age, the player has been linked with signing a new contract at the club following an impressive 2019-20 campaign so far.

Kylian Mbappe has also been mentioned as a potential long-term successor to Benzema, with Zinedine Zidane particularly keen on signing the youngster.
