Liverpool reportedly hold a genuine interest in signing Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White at the end of the season.
The Reds have been linked with a number of central defenders in the January window after losing Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk to long-term injuries.
However, Jurgen Klopp has repeatedly played down the prospect of the reigning Premier League champions signing any new players this month.
According to the Liverpool Echo, though, plans are already in place to strengthen at the back in the summer, with Brighton's White an option.
Albion rejected three bids from Leeds United for the 23-year-old ahead of this season before he put pen to paper on a new long-term deal.
Despite White being under contract at the Amex Stadium until 2024, it is suggested that Liverpool's recruitment department are unfazed and an offer is now being readied.
